Dear StubHub Community - 

As 2020 draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on everything that’s happened this year in the world of live events. It feels like a distant memory to think back to the LSU Tigers winning the College Football Championship in January and, while February feels like a lifetime ago, there was a Super Bowl in 2020. More recently, the Lakers and Dodgers championships gave Los Angeles so much to celebrate. The events these last few months were extraordinary, not just because of the pandemic-era measures that leagues took to make them happen, but also because of the way that fans like you showed up to support your teams in whatever way you could. 

We had no idea what lay ahead while at those Super Bowl parties in February. Who knew that, with the absence of live sports, fans would obsess over online marble races or that artists would reinvent the live concert experience with virtual and drive-in events? From the NBA bubble to MLB socially-distanced pods and Zoom-based Broadway cast reunions, we’ve seen incredible creativity across the industry. In the face of tremendous adversity, leagues, teams, performers and producers haven't let us down.

And neither have you. Fans showed up. You tuned in when you couldn’t be there. You sent photos to fill in empty stands as you watched from home. When it was safe to do so, you returned to those stands. This year has proven that sports and music can bring us together – even if we can’t be physically together – and that nothing can replace the joy of live events. 

The pandemic’s impact on live events has made 2020 a year of unprecedented challenges. We’ve had to make difficult decisions, yet we’ve learned a lot along the way. The way you have shown up and the resilience of the industry has kept us motivated. While next year still won’t be a typical year for live events, I am optimistic about what the future holds because of you. 

That’s why I remain committed to making your return to live events as smooth as possible. We’re continuing the work we’ve been doing the last few months to support you whenever you decide you’re ready: working closely with leagues, teams, promoters and venues to deliver you the safest fan experience, including informing you of venue policies across the NFL; protecting pod integrity to comply with social distancing protocols; working with our partners in the NBA and NHL to understand what their next season will look like. We’ve even launched our new Live at Home virtual live event series for those who are missing concerts and looking for ways to reconnect with music artists. 

We understand not all fans feel the same way about attending live events right now but as you consider doing so, StubHub is here for you. When the time comes and you have questions, we have answers.
